A man believed to be in his early 20s was hit and killed by a train around 1:50 Saturday morning in West Plains.
Police have not yet been able to identify the man, but they are working to finger print him now.
The incident happened at the Howell Street railroad crossing in the city of West Plains.
The BNSF train was headed south through town.
Witnesses on the train reported to police that the man was lying down across the tracks, just south of the crossing.
The man did not have identification on him, so police are not yet sure who he is. They will also send off a blood sample to find out if drugs or alcohol could have played a factor.
